designing a set is hard

It can be overwhelming to design an entire set. So, I start with one tiny little prop. In this case, I started by designing a few bottles. Then I designed a cabinet to put the bottles on, then I designed the wall and floors. I'll keep designing a few more props and then start designing more of the room. I'll post my progress.

  2. Props grab my attention more than finished works. Am I the only crazy person who loves processes?

  3. That's a great tip. I almost never do backgrounds because I've no idea on how to start or what I really want. Thanks

  5. Cool stuff you got goin' there! Hope to see the rest of your progress! However, I have a question if you don't mind: how do you create that textured layout? Thanks!

  6. Kel: It's just a photoshop brush that someone at work gave me.

    1. Lovely stuff! I've tried creating my own "sketch" brush in Photoshop, to no avail. Would it be possible to either get the settings for the brush you've used or the brush itself? :)

  7. Hi Rad,
Your blog has been extremely helpful to me as an animation student.
Thank you for sharing it all!

If you have time - could you help me figure out how to do a turnaround for this head design?
I'm having trouble keeping a likeness in profile view - especially in the cheeks/smile area:

  11. Thanks for posting the work flow, I find the little things (such as the bottles) so inspiring, and can really lend a hand to bigger furniture. I'll remember this process the next time I'm working on some layout. Thanks again!
