Disclaimer: in no way can you take any of this as the “right” way of doing things. I’m still learning and some of this stuff may even be wrong. I am constantly adapting and changing my approach to drawing. This is just how I think about stuff and I wanted to share it with people. Maybe it can help, maybe not.
thanks for posting all of this stuff. I read every word.
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt, I'm a huge fan. Your stuff is amazing!
ReplyDeleteBtw I think I'm going to take either Kirk or Richard Morris (thanks to your links) next.
ReplyDeletethe hip ball, did you "throw in" in the body to see how it flows/relates with the overall shape? you're not necessarily placing it w an exact measurement (e.g. bottom of the hip equal to 4 heads)?
I just eyeballed the hip placement. Whenever you slow down to think about stuff, like proportions, or shapes, it always stiffens up your drawing. The hope is that one day all this stuff becomes intuitive and you don't have to think anymore.
