Disclaimer: in no way can you take any of this as the “right” way of doing things. I’m still learning and some of this stuff may even be wrong. I am constantly adapting and changing my approach to drawing. This is just how I think about stuff and I wanted to share it with people. Maybe it can help, maybe not.
I really suck at storyboard mainly because I never know how to put quickly my characters in a simple perspective... so thanks for that, it's very helpfull.
ReplyDeletethanks for posting this. i'm one of those types that rules everything out to a point. do you arbitrarily pick zones for 2 and 3 point perspective too?
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to remind this things about perspective.
ReplyDeleteThanks for charing your knowledge.
Greetings from Chile.
Xav: I'll do some more on this later. The trick is to forget about the perspective points.
ReplyDeleteMarco: Try to avoid rulers and points. It makes everything look fake. People tend to reuse the same vanishing points for multiple objects when they are all pointing in different directions. You might have 100 different vanishing points in a drawing. I'll post more on this.
Felo: Thanks.
Thanks for this Rad, perspective is in some ways a simple subject and in some ways a tough one for me. The part I always struggle with is drawing a cube for example on at an orientation other than parallel to the perspective lines of the ground plane. I'm not sure why I struggle with it as it seems to be so simple in theory. I do like your method of drawing a base first and then extruding upwards :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to read in the comments that you are planning to cover this in more detail, I'll look forward to it!
